The therapist will create a personalised treatment plan including the number of required hair removal sessions, pre and post treatment care, as well as other useful information about the procedure.
Laser Hair Removal FAQ's
Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a laser to reduce unwanted hair so you no longer need to shave or wax.
The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicles’ roots and delivers pulses of light energy to the hair follicle. The light energy induces heat in the follicle, which weakens it to the point that the hairs fall out.
It depends on the nature of the hair being removed. You may need 4-6 treatments.
After your first treatments, the hairs will grow and then fall out over the course of a few weeks. After each treatment, the hairs will become fewer and finer until they stop growing entirely, leaving you with smooth, hairless skin!
Results are semi-permanent. After your initial course of treatments, you may need a maintenance treatment every 1-3 years.
Laser hair removal is very tolerable. Some clients say that it feels like quick rubber band snaps. Cooling air is also used in treatment to make the treatment more comfortable.
There is no downtime required, but we will recommend you keep the treated area out of the sun, lightly exfoliate the area, and avoid waxing or plucking of any regrowth.
You will need to shave the area before coming in for treatment. Avoid sun exposure, fake tanning products and gradual tanning for two weeks before and after treatment.
The technology we use for hair removal at Rejuvenation Clinics of Australia is much more efficient than traditional lasers used for hair removal. Smaller areas, such as the underarms, can be treated in a few minutes. Larger areas, such as the legs, can be treated in 30 minutes.
There is no downtime and recovery is immediate. There may be some very faint needle-prick marks that disappear very quickly. We offer a free post-treatment makeup touch-up if desired.
In some rarer cases, there may be slight bruising around the needle entry points, but this can be covered with makeup.
The specific technology we use for laser hair removal is suitable for all skin types, male or female. It may not be as effective on blonde, ginger or grey hair, but for this we may be able to provide electrolysis.
