CO2 Carbon Dioxide - Fractional laser

What is CO2 Carbon Dioxide Fractional Laser?

Co2 Fractional Laser

The CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) Fractional laser rejuvenates the skin by reducing fine lines, scarring and sun damage, and at the same time it provides some skin tightening benefits.

The CO2 Fractional Laser delivers multiple columns of energy beams to vaporise dead skin cells and ablate the superficial layer of skin. The procedure initiates a natural healing process in which your skin pushes out columns of old skin and rejuvenates the newer, healthier layers that shine through.

Co2 Fractional Laser in Sydney

Laser Resurfacing is a method of treating skin texture, tone and pigmentation while also reducing visible signs of sun damage and fine lines. The method is called “resurfacing” because it works by either ablating the surface layer of dead skin cells or accelerating natural cell turnover to clear the surface layer of dead skin cells. As a result, a new layer of healthier, younger skin is revealed.

There are different technologies we use for this procedure, including Fraxel, Erbium and CO2, depending on your skin’s condition and type.

Co2 Fractional Laser FAQ's

The CO2 Fractional Laser delivers multiple columns of energy beams to vaporise dead skin cells and ablate the superficial layer of skin. The procedure initiates a natural healing process in which your skin pushes out columns of old skin and rejuvenates the newer, healthier layers that shine through.

Once your skin is healed, it should have an overall refreshed appearance in which it looks brighter and feels more youthful and elastic.

CO2 Fractional Laser can be used to treat the face and the area around the eyes.

Yes, we will discuss prepping during your consultation. It generally involves use of a pigment inhibiting serum for 2-4 weeks, practicing UV protection and abstaining from retinol products for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment.

The appointment is booked for 15 minutes, which allows time for both a consultation and treatment if you decide to go ahead.
It’s easy to have a procedure during your lunch break or on your way home.

It depends on the size of the area being treated. It normally takes about an hour for a full-face treatment.

Results will start to appear gradually 4-6 weeks after treatment. Best results appear after a few weeks and the collagen renewal may continue for up to 3 months.

There is some discomfort associated with treatment, so we use a topical numbing cream and surface cooling to ease your experience.

There is some downtime associated with this treatment.

For the first 24 hours after treatment, there will be redness and your skin may feel like it has a mild sunburn. You can apply a cold compress at intervals to help soothe your skin. Once this sensation subsides, your skin may have a bronzed, flaky appearance for a few days. This is just the natural cell turnover which makes up the post-treatment healing process before your results appear.

We will provide aftercare advice for your individual skin. Normally, you will need to avoid sun exposure for 2-5 days after treatment and apply a post-treatment lotion to protect your skin while it heals.

Results can be long-lasting, but this may depend on your skin and how well you care for it. Regular use of good quality medical grade skincare products and protecting yourself from UV exposure on a regular basis can help maintain your results.

Our educated staff are happy to advise you on a skincare routine and which products to use.

Unfortunately, we do not perform this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Although bio remodelling injections are generally regarded as safe, medical ethics preclude us as a responsible clinic from providing injectable treatments during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

We will be happy to welcome you into our clinic for injections after your pregnancy and breastfeeding period are complete.

The CO2 Fractional Laser has a little more downtime than the Fraxel or Erbium lasers, but depending on your skin type, it may have a more powerful result.

This laser can also be used for the delicate area around the eyes.

This treatment may not be appropriate for those taking medications that increase photosensitivity or those who have a bleeding disorder or history of difficulty healing.
